OUTBREAK 2012 REGISTRATION & PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Please not these procedures for registration & timed rehearsals on stage:
- Each school will have a specific time for registration, teachers must arrive with their students
- To make the registration faster have students stand in alpha order
- Once registered students must wear their wristbands for dancer identification & access to change rooms
- Once registered, groups will go into the main gym for their rehearsal .
- Teachers will hand in their music on Flash drive to the music technician
- When your group is called to the stage please be prepared. All large teams and classes with be given 3 minutes to rehearse their formations without music. The sound tech will test your music to make sure it is correct and in working order. Have a back-up C.D. with all your songs just in case.
- After your practise student may find their area in the small gym to put their things, rehearse, make new friends or visit old ones. Student seating is also available in the gym when the show starts.
- Students may leave the building but will be searched again on re-entry.
- All school rules apply to this event. Any students who have broken school rules will be asked to leave by our school security team.

JUST A REMINDER….
• Dancers only with coaches and sponsors in the small gym. No outside friends or family.
• All gym doors must be kept closed. Do not enter or exit from the outside gym doors. If you need to leave the gym for out the inside gym entrance. There is good reception for cell phones in the cafeteria.
• Please place garbage in the cans provided.
• Please put on your make-up in the girls change room and leave the main washroom in the hallway for the audience members. Bring extra mirrors. DO NOT PUT ON HAIR SPRAY IN THE SMALL GYMNASIUM IT RUINS THE FLOORS!
• Keep all valuables with you at all times. If it is valuable, leave it at home. NSS cannot be responsible for lost items.
• There will be a concession for dancers and audience members.
• There will be a coach’s lounge in the NSS staffroom.
Please remind your students that all students involved are amateur dancers with many students performing at a competition for their very first time. Let’s all be respectful and encouraging of one another. Let there be no derogatory statements concerning another school or fellow dancer at any time. We hold a no negativity rule and it is strictly enforced, anyone showing non-compliance to this rule will be asked to leave the event and may disqualify your team. The spirit of the show is to showcase what we are learning in our schools and to have fun. Please make sure your students know it is not important whether they win or lose but rather ask themselves, “Did we put on a great show!” Let’s keep the Outbreak tradition going and put on the best high school dance show ever!

Scoring level that the judges use for our dance competition
1. Outstanding - Highest mark of division
2. 1st place - Highest score in category.
3. 2nd place - Second highest score in category.
4. 3rd place - Third highest score in category.
Participants - Any district school dancer(s) that do not rank outstanding, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd will receive a certificate, signed and dated by judges. (not applicable to Studio dancers)
Please note: We run our competition fairly. We want to award the dancers who achieve the highest with a medal, trophy and / or a cash scholarship. Our adjudicators score fairly and according to score scale.

Cash prizes, scholarships, etc. will be awarded to the top mark routines in all three divisions for solos, duos/trios and groups. All amounts are paid out in a cash scholarship. Prizes and non-cash denominations are over and above

MUSIC GUIDELINES
Your music must be ready when your name is called back stage. C.D. player and an iPod/USB connection will be available. Always bring a “back-up” C.D. Song selection must be appropriate for all family viewers with NO swear words.

-25 points will be taken off for any routine that goes over their time limit. Timing will start when the music starts. Timing ends once music stops or dancer(s) are off stage or in a “finished pose position”.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Back stage & lobby area
a. Opening time. We will open at 8:00am for dancers to go back stage and check in. We will close 30 min after final awards each day. Sales desk opens 15 min prior to the start of each day. All dancers from school districts or studios please sign in when you arrive. Please be respectful of your space and the space around you. All dressing rooms will be assigned to your school/studio and you cannot swap rooms. Each group/dancer/studio will be assigned a runner that will assist your back stage needs. You are allowed to eat and drink in dressing rooms and in lobby BUT not in the theatre.
b. Food. There is a concession stand open in the lobby. You can purchase food in the lobby area of The Bell Centre. There is also Subway, Pizza and Tim Horton’s across the street.
c. ATM. There is NO ATM in the lobby of The Bell Centre. Entrance in the Theatre, Programs, photo and Video is cash only. BUT there is an ESSO gas station across the street which has an ATM onsite.
d. Check in time. Please arrive ONLY 60 minutes prior to your routine time, check in and go to the dressing rooms to find your runner. Please come as ready as you can for your first routine. Once you have completed your routine, you can enter The Theatre and watch other routines. All dancers will receive a complimentary “dancers stamp”.
2. Programs, wrist bands and entry
a. Each District School will receive a complementary program that can be picked up in the lobby. Each school district teacher will receive one complementary wrist band to enter the theatre to watch the competition. Programs will be sold at the sales desk for $3.00 each inc tax and entry stamp for the theatre will be sold for $5.00 inc tax. Cash only please.
3. Adjudication sheet pickup
a. Adjudication sheets will be available during the entire event. Available at the sales desk after each award. You must show ID as a teacher or solo dance student to have your adjudication sheet(s) released.
4. Microphones
a. Microphones are not permitted at this competition. The theatre, (The Bell Centre) will provide stationed microphones.

5. Video & photography
a. No recording of any kind via any electronic device will be allowed during any performance. All pictures and videos can be purchased in lobby during the entire event. If caught, you will be asked to leave and may not re-enter event. NO video allowed and NO photography allowed in the theatre at any time. Please see website for additional information.
6. Audience participation

PROPS, OUTFITS & MAKEUP
All props must be appropriate to all viewers. You are allowed 1 min to set up your prop and 30 seconds to take down and clean up. Teachers and/or Choreographers must do the set up and take down of props.
Any outfit can be worn for dance. 5 points are taken off for any part of the outfit falling off; such as and not limited to hats, scarfs, shoes, head bands......... Please note: dancers who slip, fall or injure themselves on stage will NOT lose points. If you injure yourself on stage and can NOT continue to dance please walk off stage and let the M.C. back stage know.

1. Outstanding - Highest mark of division
2. 1st place - Highest score in category.
3. 2nd place - Second highest score in category.

Participants - Any district school dancer(s) that do not rank outstanding, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd will receive a certificate, signed and dated by judges. (not applicable to Studio dancers)
Please note: We run our competition fairly. We want to award the dancers who achieve the highest with a medal, trophy and / or a cash scholarship. Our adjudicators score fairly and according to score scale.

MUSIC GUIDELINES
Your music must be ready when your name is called back stage. C.D. player and an iPod/USB connection will be available. Always bring a “back-up” C.D. Song selection must be appropriate for all family viewers with NO swear words.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Back stage & lobby area
a. Opening time. We will open at 8:00am for dancers to go back stage and check in. We will close 30 min after final awards each day. Sales desk opens 15 min prior to the start of each day. All dancers from school districts or studios please sign in when you arrive. Please be respectful of your space and the space around you. All dressing rooms will be assigned to your school/studio and you cannot swap rooms. Each group/dancer/studio will be assigned a runner that will assist your back stage needs. You are allowed to eat and drink in dressing rooms and in lobby BUT not in the theatre.
b. Food. There is a concession stand open in the lobby. You can purchase food in the lobby area of The Bell Centre. There is also Subway, Pizza and Tim Horton’s across the street.
c. ATM. There is NO ATM in the lobby of The Bell Centre. Entrance in the Theatre, Programs, photo and Video is cash only. BUT there is an ESSO gas station across the street which has an ATM onsite.
d. Check in time. Please arrive ONLY 60 minutes prior to your routine time, check in and go to the dressing rooms to find your runner. Please come as ready as you can for your first routine. Once you have completed your routine, you can enter The Theatre and watch other routines. All dancers will receive a complimentary “dancers stamp”.
2. Programs, wrist bands and entry
a. Each District School will receive a complementary program that can be picked up in the lobby. Each school district teacher will receive one complementary wrist band to enter the theatre to watch the competition. Programs will be sold at the sales desk for $3.00 each inc tax and entry stamp for the theatre will be sold for $5.00 inc tax. Cash only please.
3. Adjudication sheet pickup
a. Adjudication sheets will be available during the entire event. Available at the sales desk after each award. You must show ID as a teacher or solo dance student to have your adjudication sheet(s) released.
4. Microphones
a. Microphones are not permitted at this competition. The theatre, (The Bell Centre) will provide stationed microphones.

5. Video & photography
a. No recording of any kind via any electronic device will be allowed during any performance. All pictures and videos can be purchased in lobby during the entire event. If caught, you will be asked to leave and may not re-enter event. NO video allowed and NO photography allowed in the theatre at any time. Please see website for additional information.

Outbreak Tickets
The tickets will be printed by Tuesday April 17th. All tickets are $10.00 like Breakout. They will be available at North Surrey Dance/ Drama Office and they will be for sale the day of the event from 9:30 a.m. Parents can pick up tickets when they drop off their students.
