Hey Frank Hurt Dance Teams - here is the info for Strictly Dance. Now - we need to figure out rides. I can take 3 people with me but I can not take them back to Surrey. We need some parent volunteers to drive. Please ask your parents if they are available to drive and how many dancers they can take. We will be leaving right after school. In the past parents have stopped at Subway so the students can purchase a meal. Please make sure you pack water and snacks because this will be a long day! We will write parent drivers on the white board at school - please ask nicely!!

Notre Dame Regional Secondary School would like to invite you to our
Fourteenth Annual “Strictly Dance” Competition on Friday, January 20, 2012.
We are happy to be hosting this annual event and hope to make it as successful
and entertaining as it has been in the past.

Strictly Dance is open to all high school Dance Teams. Please take the time
to read the information provided and be sure to send in your registration package,
including payment by January 11, 2012. Space is limited and registration will be
on a first come first serve basis.

IMPORTANT INFO:
 Each group competing must have a teacher sponsor present at the competition
 Each group competing must demonstrate courtesy and sportsmanship to all other competitors
 Style of music/costumes - please consider that this is a school/ family environment and all
music/costumes must be appropriate
 Athletes need to come with ID (i.e. School Go-Cards)

DANCE TIME LIMIT: 3 minutes (max) – Time starts at first movement or first sound
2.5 minutes (max) – Duo’s and Trio’s

MUSIC:
Each team is to supply its own music on CD. It is suggested that each team have two copies of
their music, as we are not responsible for the loss of any personal belongings.

PRACTICE/WARM-UP:
The gym floor will be available for practice time from 4-5:30 on a first come first served basis.
Team names will be taken by the DJ and called in that order.

ARRIVAL TIME:
All team members must check-in with ID upon arrival (there will be a designated table at the
entrance). Doors will not open to teams before 4:00pm

ENTRANCE TO THE GYM:
The gymnasium is located at the Northeast corner of the school (at the corner of Renfrew and
Venables Streets). The main entrance to the school is now on Venables Street. Parking is available
through the gates on Kaslo Street. The doors will open for Spectators at 5:30pm.

AWARDS:
Trophies and Ribbons will be awarded to the top place winners (number to be determined by
number of teams entered). 1st place duo/trio will receive medals and 2nd/3rd will receive ribbons. All
other athletes will receive a participation ribbon.

CONCESSION:
A concession stand will be available. The concession only accepts cash.

ADMISSION:
Registered teams with teacher sponsor/coach (max 2) are free
Student with Valid Go-Card $8.00
Adults $10.00

MAJOR INFRACTIONS DEDUCT -5 POINTS FROM TOTAL

1) Inappropriate movements (grabbing at self with sexual overtones is bad, or humping people or things, the floor, a chair, a speaker etc.)
2) Swearing on stage (watch for when dancer makes a mistake)
3) Profanity in lyrics (ass is borderline, once okay, more than that deduct)
4) Entered in wrong category (only for hip hop teams, if you see too many jazz type moves, leaps, pirouette turns etc.)
5) Talking on stage

MINOR INFRACTIONS DEDUCT -2
1) Chewing gum
2) Adjusting costume or touching hair
3) Dropping prop or costume falling off
4) Counting on stage
5) Collisions between dancers
