Parents and Guardians,
The
Frank Hurt Junior, Break, and Senior Dance teams will be competing at INNOV8
Dance Competition in Kelowna. The students have fundraised $25 each towards the
price of the field trip. Each student is required to pay $125 to cover the costs of the hotel and bus. They must also have
$10 - $20/day for meals or bring some food with them. There are microwaves and mini-fridges
in the hotel rooms. The competition fees, the pizza party and the cost of the
supervisors have been covered by our dance accounts and the hotel includes a
complimentary hot breakfast.
Please
read through the itinerary and rules with your child before you fill in and
sign this permission form.
Deadline for permission forms and $125 field trip fee is Friday, April 25, 2014.

5:00pm Arrive
back at Frank Hurt Secondary. Parents please be prompt in picking students up
as we will all be tired from the trip.
School Field Trip Rules
If any rule is broken by a
student they will be send home at the parents’ expense and dealt with by the
school administration.
1. Alcohol, drugs, and smoking
are prohibited for everyone on the trip.
2. Bags will be checked before
we get on the bus.
3. Everyone must stay in his or
her own rooms at curfew (11 and 11:30pm). Your door will be taped from the
outside so supervisors can monitor you.
4. If you and a buddy need to
leave the hotel or the group please see Ms. Johnson or Ms. Henderson. You may
be allowed to leave if it is important. Please sign out and sign back in upon
your return so we know where you are at all times.
5. All school rules apply on a
school field trip.
Examples of Inappropriate
Behaviours and Consequences:
1. Climbing in and out of
windows or balconies – sent home
2. Breaking or destroying hotel
property – must pay for damage and sent home
3. Visiting someone else’s room
after curfew – sent home
4. In possession or under the
influence of illegal substances – sent home and removed from the dance team.
These
rules are to ensure your safety and the enjoyment of the trip for everyone.
Please abide by the rules and enjoy our field trip so that we can run more
events like this one.

Please be aware of the upcoming events:
Wednesday, April 2, 2014:
3-4pm – Works in Progress Dress Rehearsal
- All dance classes and teams will be rehearsing.
- Dress
rehearsal is mandatory and for marks for dance classes.
- Dancers
must come prepared to school with their costumes.
- Dancers
who do not attend the dress rehearsal will not be in the show.
- Students
in dance classes who do not make up their missed classes before dress
rehearsal (Wednesday, April 2@12pm) will not be in the show.
Thursday, April 3, 2014:
5:45 – 8:00pm – Works in Progress Show
- All dance classes and teams will be performing.
- Dance class
students will be marked on their performances.
- This show
is for family members only.
- Doors open
for the audience at 6:45 and the show starts at 7.
- I will be
greeting families at the door – so I can get to know you!
- Donations
will be accepted at the door – to go towards costumes and competitions.
Tuesday, April 15, 2014:
10am – 1:00pm – Surrey Dance Festival at
the Bell Centre
· Dance
performances by Surrey Elementary and Secondary schools. Frank Hurt’s Dance 8 and Dance 11/12 classes will be performing.
· Transportation:
School busses provided by the district
· Cost:
Free – paid for by the district
· Tickets:
Free – family is welcome to come and watch. There is lots of seating at the
Bell Centre and it is free!
· To
do: Parents fill in and sign, have teachers sign, and students return the
permission form for this field trip. Deadline for permission form is Monday,
April 14 at 2:45 pm.
