It was a day with no classes, an exam night for some; it was after Breakout, Bell, and the Winter Showcase, most were tired and feeling finished - but we persevered. We went somewhere new and we learned a new space, met new people, and said hi to old friends. We rode on a new bus and got unhealthy treats at Husky beside the Dojo. We helped our friends and supported one another. You made Ms. J proud. Thank-you Killer Beez. Thank-you Ms. Valencia for this awesome idea and for putting on an amazing show. You are an inspiration. Thank-you Ms. Jensen for hosting us in your new school. We appreciate you.

Student MC's - because many of our dances are student choreographed and the conceptual value of these dances are so high. I think it would be so meaningful to have the student choreographer of each dance introduce their dances. Please let them know this ahead of time. They can read straight out of the program from the blurb they submitted if they want to. It does not have to be an elaborate presentation. Just a hello to the audience, introduce who they are, what their big ideas is and maybe some insight on their creative process or anything they wish their audience to know before they perform.

YouTubes: Breakout 2019
I posted these videos before the students received their awards. Awards are awesome and I love it when the students win, but making dances from start to finish and watching these kids put in the blood, sweat, and tears while making something out of an idea and trying something new is better than any award. Watching them bravely step outside of comfort zones and break away from expectations while remaining true to themselves and developing their own style is above and beyond the most rewarding gift a teacher and coach can receive. Then, to have these students recognized and their little faces overflowing with emotions because they did what they set out to do... those little faces and tears... and smiles... and jumps and yells... are in my memory forever.
I love the community that we have built together here at Frank Hurt. You are all awesome little Killer Beez. Thank-you to all the coaches. Do you know, I have always dreamed of our program turning into what it is... with alumni that keep coming back to create and share what they have learned? I appreciate all of you.
Congratulations coaches and dancers. You KillaBeed BREAKOUT!
