Dance Team Trip: May 5 - 7 to Victoria

Make sure you have signed up for two workshops - one in each session. See your teacher to sign up.

If your name is yellow, you need to bring in the the RULES signed by your parents. Please discuss the rules with your parents.

Trip Rules:
All Frank Hurt / Queen Elizabeth / North Surrey Secondary school rules apply.
All British Columbia laws apply. Ex. No shoplifting
Must abide by all hotel and transportation rules. Ex. Quiet times in the hotel 10pm - 7am.
There should be no girls in the boys’ rooms and no boys in the girls’ rooms at any time.
At light’s out everyone must be in their own room and stay there until morning.
Alcohol, drugs, smoking, and vaping are prohibited for everyone on the trip.
Bags will be checked before we get on the bus.
All visits from family and friends must be cleared with Ms. J. If you have a friend that lives where we are going and you would like to meet them - please talk about this with your parents before we leave and have your parents contact me (email, phone, note) so I know this is acceptable.
Ms. J must know where you are at all times. For this reason, you must sign out and sign in with Ms. J.
Students must use the buddy system when we have free time. No one should be off on their own. Each small group must have at least one phone with Ms. J’s phone number in case of emergency. (604-716-7344)
Students must watch the time and make sure they return to the set meeting point on time. If you are going to be late you must text or call Ms. J / Ms. Bryson / Ms. Henderson and tell her why and when she can expect you back.
Must have a teacher supervising when swimming.
If any rule is broken by a student, they will be sent home at their parents’ expense and dealt with by the administration at school. If it is a serious issue, all dance teams will be cancelled for the rest of the year and future dance team trips are in jeopardy.
I ______________________ have read and discussed the rules with my parents / guardians. I understand all the rules and agree to abide by them. My parents are aware of the monetary and disciplinary consequences of my breaking the rules.

YouTubes: Outbreak 2017

Thank-you Frank Hurt dance coaches, dancers, and alumni. You make me proud every time you get up on the stage. But, nothing makes me happier than seeing the growth that I have seen this year. I have seen kids turn into performers that attack the stage. I have seen coaches turn simple movements into masterpieces. What more can a teacher ask for? (Oh ya... TWO FIRSTS!!!! WOOOO HOOOOO!!!! Not that it matters.) I love you all!

We are very tight in seating this year (as always) and so we are asking that you follow the instructions below very closely to help insure things run smoothly and we avoid as many snags as possible:

1.) Registration for the competition will be behind the auditorium at the north side of Chandos. There will be signs with arrows pointing the students in the right direction. This is where they will have their bags checked and receive their hand stamp.

2.) BRING YOUR GO CARD - Students will not be let in if they do not have proof of ID. You will need to vouch for any students who do not have ID. This will be difficult to manage after the competition has started if you have any late arrivals as the registration moves from back stage to the front entrance and students will be coming in with the public. Make sure they have ID.

3.) Every student (volunteer or dancer) must be on the registration list or will not be allowed in. The names of all teachers and students listed on your rosters have been included on the registration lists. I have also included any volunteer names that were added on the spreadsheet. If you have not added volunteers to that list and they will be coming, you need to send me their names as we use the same protocol with them as we do with the dancers.

4.) Once dancers have registered, there are no in and out privileges. They are allowed to use the lobby and surrounding area's to mark out if they need and access the concession (which is cash and debit this year - yay!) but they cannot leave the premises.

5.) There will be a meeting in the theatre for all dancers at 11:15am to go over protocol for entrances and exits, talk about in and outs, and any other house keeping items.

6.) Once the doors open to the public at 11:30am, dancers need to remain in the theatre with the exception of using the washrooms or going to the concession. We felt last year that the space was incredibly empty which made the energy very low. Also, we struggled with explaining why there was no more room for ticket holders but the bottom area of seating was nearly empty. Please tell your students no practicing after the competition starts.

7.) Please remind students that they are not to use the washrooms in the lobby to change and do their hair/make-up. We will have students enforcing this and there will be security doing the same. This space is for the audience and for bathroom use only. There are change rooms back stage for boys and girls, please ask them to use these if they are in more than one piece.

8.) Lastly, please remind the students that the volunteers at this event are doing their best and have been given a job to do. They need to respect them and what they are asking of the dancers.
