Dear Frank Hurt Dance Team Parents & Guardians,
Each year I strive to bring a
performance oriented trip experience to our dance teams to strengthen the team
bond/culture and broaden our performing and artistic horizons. This year, we
have the opportunity to do a slightly different trip and take a break from the
competition circuit. In partnership with the Surrey Dance Teacher’s
Association, Frank Hurt teams have the opportunity to travel to Seattle with
approximately 150 other dancers from local schools to both perform and train.
The trip would take place from June 5th-7th and would
encompass a half-day show at a Seattle elementary school, giving us the
opportunity to share dance with a group of students who do not get regular exposure
to the Performing Arts. We would also be taking a variety of workshops from
different industry professionals, giving our dancers valuable training
experience outside of the lower mainland dance community. The trip would also
incorporate a variety of team building activities that strengthen our unity and
team culture.
While myself and the other
coordinating teachers are still working on the exact itinerary and working to
ensure the trip is as economical as possible, we estimate that the cost of the trip
would be approximately $250 per student. With significant fundraising effort
between now and June we can also work to bring this cost down further. This
cost would include all transportation (including local in Seattle), 2 nights
accommodation, daily breakfasts and snacks, all dance workshops, a Mariner’s
Game and some chaperone expenses.
In order
to help us in our planning, we need to get a rough idea of numbers as soon as
possible so we can move ahead with details. Please indicate interest below.
